Mile Jedinak is an expected surprise inclusion when the squad for the first Ashes test is named today.

The Australian team for the first test will be announced today, with a few surprise selections expected. Tim Paine is set to take keeping duty. However, it is another name causing a stir. Socceroos’ hero, Mile Jedinak is scheduled to make his test debut, and bat at number six for Australia.

An unnamed Australian selector, whose name rhymes with Shmark Smaugh, spoke to Flack yesterday. “Mile Jedinak is in red-hot form,” the selector said. “We want to select on current form and not reputation. “The first test will be a tricky match, and obviously we cannot undersell the importance of the Ashes”.

Mile Jedinak is the name on all Australian’s lips after his heroics on Wednesday night’s World Cup Qualifier against Honduras. “Jedi is looking to bring in some grunt and strength into our middle order. “We know that we can rely on Mile when the chips are down, and the chips may very well be down next week”.
